Meet Ramie

Hi, I’m Ramie!

My life has been shaped by movement – traveling, working, and living all over the world. I’ve learned how to embrace being an outsider and how to adapt. I know how to connect with people no matter where I am or what language barriers are occurring. This adaptability is something I bring to my work as a licensed therapist, to meet people where they are. In their pain, joy, and every complicated emotion in between.

What makes me a great therapist? I love people! I love animals too. And nature, the trees and water. I love a good rock. But, there’s something about people. Our cultures, our music, our food, our art, the way we all navigate through our life stories. Every move, every shift, has been a chance to soak up life, to understand people. Not just by what we say, but by how we live, create, and connect.

If I had to sum myself up? Well, I wouldn’t. But, let’s just say, I’m stitched together with song lyrics, a love for the fantastical, and the desire to experience every adventure allowed to me. I’m equal parts rational and dramatic, with a deep curiosity for the world. I’m a storyteller, but I love to listen to people as well. Music, art, books, film – they capture the depths of what it means to live. I perceive the world through storytelling. Sometimes, it’s through a Van Eyck painting. Other times, witnessing the graceful dance of a lionfish while scuba diving. Or by channeling the Tin Man while getting buffed down in a jjimjilbang in Seoul.

I’m also a fan of tigers and bears. I graduated from Clemson University (Go Tigers!) in 2002, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Legal Studies. In 2004, I graduated from Mercer University School of Medicine (lions, tigers, and bears made it into the bio) with a Master’s degree in Family Therapy. During my program, I completed my Internship at Putnam Family Medicine, located in Eatonton, Georgia. After graduation, I sat for the licensing exam in 2005 and became an associate-licensed MFT at that time. During this time, I worked with the Department of Juvenile Justice and Community Mental Health Programs. In Oct of 2007, I earned full licensure in Georgia as an LMFT, 001070. I currently hold licensure in Georgia, Idaho-9080, and am a registered telehealth provider in South Carolina. Throughout my career, I have worked with both children and adults in various settings. These include inpatient hospitals, medical facilities, military communities, and private practice. Each experience has allowed me to build a broad, adaptable skill set for supporting individuals, couples, and families.

My Approach

My approach is rooted in understanding the real-world challenges that impact individuals and their mental well-being. I use story-telling, metaphors, and pop culture references to make therapy feel more relatable and accessible. My goal is to create an environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. I focus on understanding a person beyond a diagnosis, incorporating your individual strengths

Men’s Issues & Trauma Recovery

Many men struggle to feel heard when dealing with emotional wounds. I work with men to explore their experiences and begin to reclaim their emotional health. Together we will uncover the emotional barriers, break cycles of suppression, and move towards healthier self-perception.

High-Pressure Lifestyles & Medical Professionals

I understand the demands faced by those in high-pressure fields. I help healthcare professionals, first responders, caretakers, and those in demanding careers. Together, we navigate burnout, anxiety, work-life balance, and vicarious trauma.

Family of Origin & Systems-Based Support

I support individuals in exploring the patterns that stem from their family of origin. Using a systemic approach, I help people understand how these dynamics affect their current lives. Together, we work towards acceptance of the past and facilitating change in your current relationships.

Relationship Dynamics & Transitions

Relationships and transitions can be complex. You might be in the midst of a challenging relationship. Or you’re navigating a separation or even managing co-parenting responsibilities. Together, we’ll explore your unique dynamics and create practical strategies for healthier dynamics and smoother transitions.
